“You have to know how to accept rejection and reject acceptance” -Ray Bradbury #mentalhealth #anxiety #acceptance

This quote may have you saying, “huh?” so let me reframe this for you.  Typically, but especially if you consider yourself a perfectionist-accepting rejection/rejecting acceptance is an easy process and vicious cycle of self loathing.  You may have made a mistake, perhaps while doing something new and  poof!-instantly rejections enter your mind. “I suck!,” “I’m not good enough,” “Why can’t I do this right?!”  In that moment, when those thoughts come into your mind you are rejecting the acceptance that perhaps whatever you are doing takes practice, that you are only human and not a machine…in other words, give yourself a break!  Recognize that perhaps the unrealistic expectations you are setting take practice and habit forming commitment to work through.

The challenge this week is to process this cycle if you find yourself in it.  Be aware of how you may be rejecting acceptance of something and work through that to get to a place where you can accept your own rejection as a catalyst to become better at whatever it is.  And if it doesn’t work the first time, please give yourself a break and another chance to try again!  You are worth it!
